What to pack for a hinterland day trip

Guide and group standing on a log at the base of a rainforest waterfall in the Gold Coast hinterland

Both of our day tours from Surfers Paradise mix walking, swimming and time outdoors in the Gold Coast hinterland. Here's what to bring.

For both tours

  • Eat your own breakfast before the 8am pickup
  • Good walking shoes. These are essential
  • A water bottle
  • Swimmers on under your clothes, and a towel
  • Thongs (flip flops) for after the swim
  • A warm jacket
  • Sunscreen and a hat
  • Snacks
  • Money for food and drinks, which you can buy at every stop

Why a warm jacket?

Springbrook and Tamborine Mountain sit up on the range, and they're usually cooler than the coast, especially first thing in the morning. On the Rainforest tour the tracks can be wet and rocky, so good walking shoes matter.

Outback tour extras

There's swimming in a crystal-clear creek, floating and volleyball at the farm, so bring swimmers and a towel. If you want a drink at the country pub at the end of the day, bring ID.
